Lipstick, powder and paint

KATHMANDU: Shakil Kunwar, who made his mark in the fashion scene of Nepal with TGIF-NFW 2009, is back again. With just 10 assistants, he will be grooming and giving the models the best look for the event.

“The make-up is totally new this year. None of the earlier version will be repeated,” he informed.

The look this time will be fresh and natural. Nude and clean can summarise the whole make up theme. However, Day 3 will witness more of glossy and shimmering look, while Day 4 will have a dramatic touch. The lip will remain natural matt.

He said, “I’ve tried to coordinate with as many designers as possible and will be working on what they want. Most of them have chosen subtle, nude make-up. Maybe they want more focus on their clothes and design. It’s their time to shine, so I’m sticking to their idea.”

Crème, gold, olive green will be the dominant colours in terms of make-up.

The hair also plays a crucial role in enhancing the whole get up. And this year Shakil is going for “pulled back hair. Stylish and chic with a lot of poof and puffs is the hairstyle theme. For Day 1 it will be loose curls”.

Prom Updo hairstyle will create a statement this TGIF-NFW.

“There is more play with the hair, an element which brings fashion alive. So I will want everything just perfect,” said Shakil.

Shakil just wants people to appreciate his work.
